awesome - I cried during the death crawl.

I probably enjoyed this movie more than the kids did.  About the movie-In his six years of coaching, Grant Taylor has never had a winning season.  Even the hope of a new season is squelched when the best player on his Shiloh Eagles team decides to transfer to another school that has a winning season.  After losing their first three games of the season, the coach discovers a group of parents are trying to have him fired.  Knowing this the coach has lost hope in his battle against fear and failure.  Coach turns to the Bible for help.  This movie is awesome if the kids learned one thing I hope they learned the power of prayer, and that all things are possible through God.

My favorite scripture reading - Hebrews Chapter 11.  The "faith" chapter.  The kids volunteer reading the different scriptures but I volunteered to read this one so I could shout out each verse "IT WAS BY FAITH", as I read to them the verses that referenced all the heroes of the Old Testament.  I was really impressed with Christopher when I asked the class to look for the one vs in this chapter that sums up everything and Christopher shouted it out.

It was also a pleasure to watch the expressions on their faces when they figured something out, and Janel and Kristy would yell out "oh, I get it."  For example, did you know that the first time the word "love" is used in the Bible is when Genesis speaks of Abraham's love for his son Isaac.  I asked the kids to think about this Old Testament story and tell me what this story has in common with the New Testament.  Guess what they did get it!

We also touched on the following :

Every miracle of God begins with an impossible situation.  A miracle will happen when we jump in.

When we seek the Lord in impossible circumstances, he reveals His power and presence by accomplishing the impossible through us.  When we step out in His strength the impossible can become "Him-possible."

We praise God when things go our way and we still praise him when they don't.  Everything we do, we do for the Glory of God.

Humility - Not to think less of ourselves - but to think of ourselves less.  In your daily life and activities are you giving LESS THAN 100% of yourself?  If so who are You cheating?  and last- The Greatest Failure is the Failure to TRY!

Next the kids will be watching the movie "The Rookie", it is their turn to do the research and ask the questions - I am looking forward to this!

I think "Facing the Giants" was an outstanding movie.   It taught me how if you believe in God anything is possible.  I learned more about how to face my Giants.  My favorite part was when Brock did the "Death Crawl."  There was not one thing in the movie that I disliked.  I also thought the movie was good in how it was titled "Facing the Giants" and so much of it could be related to the Bible - like the one football player that was having trouble and had no confidence in himself was named David.  Well everyone that is my review and I think everyone should watch it.

Facing the Giants is a really good movie.  It taught me to never give up and always trust and believe in yourself.  It taught me when you put your trust in God anything is possible and when you give your best to God then God will give something good back.  I liked everything about the movie buy my favorite part in the movie is when they started playing to honor God and they beat the Eagles.  I really enjoyed this movie.

I believe that this was a great selection for a movie because it taught us some valuable lessons.  In the movie, Coach Taylor always said if you believe in God nothing is impossible.  When the players first heard this comment, they thought that he was joking.  As they started to feel this phrase in their heart, they started winning and believing in it and living by it.  They have some tragic incidents happen, but miracles happen and they make it to the championship game.  As the game progresses, they are tired and want to put in substitutes but the players dug down deep and played as a team and honored God.  A miracle happens as they get the ball back with a short time left needing a score.  Coincidentally, a boy named David starts to believe in himself and he defeats his giant.  I feel if I follow the same advice, nothing will be impossible if I believe and trust God.

Kristi Seiler:

In this movie, many important lessons in life were taught.  Some of them include teamwork, faith and believing in yourself and others.  My favorite character was Brock because I feel he changed the most throughout the movie and did things wholeheartedly without giving up on himself.  The most important lesson I learned from this movie is that nothing is impossible to God and we should praise him no matter what the outcome is.  Overall, I thought Facing the Giants was an excellent selection that I enjoyed very much.
