St. John's Sends Our Sincere Thanks

We want to sincerely thank you all for your contribution to the St. John’s Christmas Package outreach to the Troops.

Waiting for confirmation from family members that the packages arrived, I heard that a few of the soldiers were planning on writing, so I waited in hopes to share the message from them as well. Unfortunately I did not get the awaited notes. But, that was really to be expected as I am sure they have more important things, and family letters are to come first.

I did hear:
“I do know the packages were GREATLY appreciated! THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH”

Each of the 13 packages weighed between 20 and 25 pounds and contained not only personal hygiene supplies, but individual sized condiments to season their MRE’s (meals ready to eat); stationary items, magazines; snack foods and sweets enough to share with their buddies. We also packed along small gift items for them to give to the local children. Also a small snowflake Christmas ornament was attached to a personal gift and an identical one was hung on the tree in the church as they are all on our prayer list until they return home.

Our appreciation to all that participated in your Dress Down Day for the troops and please know that a letter was included with their package acknowledging your contribution along with the others that were so kind.

Thank you and God’s Peace to you all.

WHEN A SOLDIER COMES HOME

When a soldier comes home, he finds it hard....

..to listen to his son whine about being bored.

....to keep a straight face when people complain about potholes.

to be tolerant of people who complain about the hassle of getting ready for work.

...to be understanding when a co-worker complains

about a bad night's sleep.

..to be silent when people pray to God for a new car.

...to control his panic when his wife tells him he needs to drive slower.

..to be compassionate when a businessman expresses a fear of flying.

....to keep from laughing when anxious parents say they're afraid to send their kids

off to summer camp..

....to keep from ridiculing someone who complains about hot weather.

....to control his frustration when a colleague gripes about his coffee being cold.

...to remain calm when his daughter complains about having to walk the dog.

.....to be civil to people who complain about their jobs..

....to just walk away when someone says they only get two weeks of vacation a year.

....to be forgiving when someone says how hard it is to have a new baby in the house.

The only thing harder than being a Soldier..

Is loving one.
