Positions at St John's
Altar Guild
Following the liturgical calendar, the altar, vestments and sacred vessels are maintained and prepared for worship.
 
Acolytes
These sacred ministers perform a valuable service at the altar, complementing and/or supporting our ordained clergy.
 Training is available.
 
CAPAC Representative
Christian Action Council Palmerton Area Churches - partnership with area churchs for the community.
 
Chalice Bearer
This charge is also licensed through the Bishop’s office, whereby the Precious Blood of our Lord is administered in the Holy Eucharist.
 
Christian Education
Helping to share The Word with our Sunday School and Youth Group 
 
Choir Member
In traditional liturgical settings they add to the mystery of faith, and the unity of the Body of Christ with our Lord. 
Men, women and children are welcome.
 
Evangelism/Fellowship Committee
Helping to spred The Word through the outreaching to the community and within the parish itself, with events and gatherings
 
Finance Committee
They assist in gathering all the financial information and presenting it to the Vestry when funding issues arise
 
Greeters 
They not only greet regulars, but identify and welcome guests and newcomers to all Sunday and Holy Day services. 
 
Lay Ministry 
Saint John’s offers opportunities for people of all ages, home bound to join in our worship of Almighty God, 
with the delivering of the Holy Eucharist
 
Lectors
In the Liturgy of the Word, volunteers offer their skills in delivering God’s Word, to the congregation at large.
 
Outreach Committee
Hosting the Free Community Dinner once a month, preparing the meal or assisting with service, clean up.
 
Pastoral Care Committee
Sending out communications, such as Milestone Birthdays, Anniversaries, Births, etc… as well as packages to the Troops.
 
Property Committee
They assist in gathering information on the major maintenance and upkeep of the church to present to the Vestry.
 
Ushers
They assist with the offering collections and in the guidance to the altar for Holy Eucharist 
 
Vestry
The Vestry consists of Ten elected church members. The Rector presides at the Vestry and he nominates the Jr Warden. The Senior warden is elected annually by the congregation from the elected members. The treasurer and recording secretary are appointed by the Vestry on an annual basis. The Vestry meets on the third Sunday of every month. The Vestry with the Rector is responsible for the government of the parish. Its members chair most of the committees; help implement policies and work hard to attain the goals set out by the group as a whole. The Annual Meeting takes place in January when elections for Vestry members are held. 
 
Worship  Committee
They assist with the direction of the worship and the Hymns chosen
